LUX BUTLER

Hey!
My name is Lux Butler and I am a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. My intention with this site is to give YOU a better idea of who I am and all of the work that I am passionate about! Read below for the rest of my story...
All About Me
I was raised in Tucson, Arizona. Actually, if we're being specific, I was raised on the Northwest side of Tucson, in the suburbs. These suburbs are technically their own town called Oro Valley. Oro Valley as a whole played a large part in my upbringing. I grew up going to school, playing sports, getting my first job, all within the radius of the town. Being raised in such a close tight-knit community is what made me want to pursue a career in journalism. I have always wanted to know more about the world than what a small suburban community could offer me.

I graduated high school in May of 2020, mid-pandemic! After graduation, I was signed to play collegiate soccer at Western Oregon University in the small town of Monmouth, Oregon. Playing soccer at such a high level and living in Oregon will forever be some of my best memories. After a year there I decided it would be best for me to continue pursuing my academic career back home in Arizona.

I found my new home in Downtown Phoenix at Cronkite. During my time at Cronkite, I did my best to maximize the opportunities my university offered to me. I participated in multiple semesters of Cronkite's fully functional newsroom, Cronkite News, in Phoenix, Washington D.C. and Paris, France. Additionally. I secured two major market newsroom internships at The Arizona Republic and the Phoenix Business Journal. I am extremely happy to be a #CronkiteNation alumni and I believe that this is where I was meant to be.
Following my graduation from ASU I plan to use my degree and real-world experience to find a position in a new newsroom in a new city!
